My daughter is an adult female in serious pain. she's 33 yrs old and has taken medication for bipolar disorder since age 7. She's suffered from dry mouth and has had many carries. She's an SSI recepient and has Medicare but they pay very little for dental procedures for adults. Recent x-rays show she has no teeth worth saving , many are broken off at the gum line and decayed. The estimates for cost of extractions, bone grafting and dentures has been between $6000 and $10,000 dollars. Where does a person like her come up with funds like this? She lives with my wife and I as she is unable to live alone. We reside in Houston TX. I am disabled due to a 6 bypass surgery and a mild stroke. My wife had cancer 2 years ago and has recently retired from her job at age 65. Please can anyone out there help us? It is difficult for her to eat and her teeth are chipping away daily. She's in much pain and on and off antibiotics often due to infections. Her primary doctor has written a letter for her to present to Medicare letting them know he feels she needs treatment. She currently has some limited insurance with Medicare written through United Health. It pays for extractions only. Which took my last estimate from $8000 down to $6000. This does not include the cost of the dentures. I don't know what to do, and the pain is driving her crazy and breaking our hearts as we have no way to help her. Please can anyone out there help?
